During the last decade, the computing community has made substantial efforts
towards the development of automatic forms of social intelligence, i.e., the facet of human cognition aimed at making sense of social interaction. This talk will show what are the main technological issues at the core of these efforts, the main successes achieved so far and the most important issues likely to result from the ongoing developments.
Dr Alessandro Vinciarelli is an acclaimed Senior Lecturer at the University of Glasgow. Additionally, Dr Vinciarelli is a Senior Researcher at the Idia Research Institute and cofounder of the webcasting company, Klewel (http://www.klewel.com/). He has over 100 published works and has researched in a variety of fields including Social Signal Processing, Personality Computing, Automatic Understanding of Nonverbal Behaviour, and Machine Learning.
